My First Journaling Page

While waiting for my journaling bible I practised an idea for a page (heart pic with arrows). Basically the idea was to have a nice looking heart with all the signs of love in it and a broken bad looking heart showing things that are not actually love.

The whole reason I chose to do 1 Corinthians 13 was because we had been challenged to study it at church. When my bible actually came I decided I wanted to journal what I got out of the verses rather than a repeat of the verses. What I took fro the chapter was that we should let love motivate our actions. To depict this I tried to draw a hand that was moving because of love (the little love hearts).

Now I was super nervous drawing in the actual bible, so I ended up doing drafts on a seperate book, placing it under my page and tracing over it. I also looked u the word love or 'charity' in the concordance and found lots of different words that related to it. (I regret entering them as I think it looks silly).

I prepped my page with golden acrylic glaze and used water colours with a sponge brush for the background. I also used a pearlescent varnish over the hand and bible verses that were not painted. The pen I used for the black ink was a fabercastle pitt artist pen.

First attempt while waiting for m bible

Hi, my name is Huia Yongo. I am happily married with one child. I love writing in books and love art, so bible journaling was an awesome way to help me study God's word.

I gave my life to Christ in 2012 and have never looked back. I always knew about Jesus from a young age, but until I gave my life to Christ I didn't know Him personally.
