Another alternative to a tip-in, is to just journal straight onto your bible pages. It doesn't have to be a journaling bible for this. You can use water colours, pencils, crayons. Just keep away from felts and markers and you should be fine. You can also combine full page backgrounds with tip-ins.

Below is an image of a journaling and regular bible side by side. (I took a lot longer doing the waves in the journaling bible & was tired by the time I got to the second one LOL)
